Spring Has Sprung maybe

Here are some photos showing spring here in Lafayette. The daffodils are a family tradition and the turtles are a tradition now! Our turtles came up to bask in the sun and they actually ate! This truly means that they don't intend to go back to hibernation. Now we anticipate a whole week of wind and rain...go figure.

Memories of Copters

The other day I was in the corner room, the small bird room, my brother's old bedroom, when a loud rotor sound seemed to be coming closer and closer. The birds got excited and I looked out the window to see two Chinook helicopters fly over at a very low altitude. I called them Hueys but my son, Paul, corrected me. He, too, is into helicopters and witnessed them fly over while he was on his walk.

The instant memory of being in that room with my brother as he explained his model of a Sikorsky helicopter and the other copters that intrigued him overcame me. My brother got into some varied interests! Orchids, Mollys, Maps, Chemistry, but at that moment, the helicopters came flying back into my memory. Those huge copters were probably heading to Travis. It felt like Apocalypse Now!

Danger Zone

Here are two shots of Marks driveway which floods whenever there is rain. The white bark tree that you see is a Eucylyptus tree. It is very old and very tall. It is also leaning... Since I wear ear plugs and have the TV on loud while I'm there, I often wonder if I would even hear this tree start to go. At least it leans towards the street and not the house!

I think Mark has a problem with who actually owns the property. The City should fix it but they won't. Glad it's not my problem!

Flooding Here

Man oh man, what a deluge! This has to be filling the reservoirs! I have to pack up a cage and a bird and transport her to Oakland. What a crumby day to do that! Then Mark decided to extend his stay so I'll be going there too. Driving in downright treacherous. Feels good to get home and curl up to watch TV. Wish me luck.

Gayle's Day

Well, thankfully today was much better. I had one grey parrot go home and I drove Foggy, the grey that had surgery, back to his facility. Then I drove out to Oakland to pickup a little parrot who will be ataying for a week while her mom looks for a new home in San Diego. All is good here.

Gayle's Day

BOY, today made me mad. I've been very faithful to commiting to the local Curves and when I went down to workout there was a sign on the door that the location was closed due to financial hardship... Just when I was getting into it. Bad Day!

Cheryl Fraga

Do you remember Cheryl Fraga? Of course you do! She googled me and found me and we are now back in touch. She is living in Ohio! The internet has some amazing advantages. I can still remember fondly her singing "As we stroll along together" when she was perched behind me on my horse. The rythym of that song fit perfectly to the clopping of the hooves. Loved it.

Noise? What noise?

You can only imagine the noise that goes on in this house on a rainy day. These two kids are playing behind me while I am on the computer. They are so fun to watch!

Today has been calm. Shelley came up to help me and then I was free to watch a good dvd. Religulous with Bill Maher. Funny documentary.

My friend Mary gave me a bunch of dvds from someone who is on the Academy Awards judging committee. Cool eh?

Gayle's Day

Well, I don't think a blog will work unless each of you creates a blog on eblogger.com and posts to it frequently. Not likely eh? I thought we could all post to one blog. What do I know! I will post to this since Tom is following it! Thanks Tom!

Today I ran away. I couldn't come home to the six macaws all blasting away like air horns. So I went to Diana and Travis' where the most noise is from the clock ticking on the wall. Diana is trying to figure a way to insulate the walls of the clock to lessen its noise. Oh brother! If you want noise reduction...

Well, I'm home now and have my ear plugs in. It's time to put all the birds to bed and relax. Tough day. Hope your day is even better!
